The Black Arm Band presents music of the contemporary indigenous experience.

In this rare performance especially devised for Four Winds, The Black Arm Band presents the women of dirtsong – a music performance from Aboriginal Australia mixing traditional and contemporary songs, existing repertoire with newly commissioned music and sung in many Australian languages.

dirtsong is a narrative about country. With words from Miles Franklin Award-winning author Alexis Wright (Carpentaria), these songs and music gently awaken some of Australia's sleeping languages.
